G.O.D. is a Hong Kong chain-store established by a local designer, taking ‘To create good lives, to promote Hong Kong culture with original brand’ as its principle. Recently, it acquires the operation right in ‘Delay No Mall (DNM)’ which was opened in early February 2008 in Causeway Bay. ZIII product is derived into four series, which conform to popularity, high quality, and creativity.

 

HydroScape Series 

The design derives from the Daoist/Buddhist intellectual traditions, and the awakening of water landscape (水態景觀). This series of handbag describe steam in the moisture lingers, easily into cloud-induced fog, some hanging like a waterfall. Water is the basic symbol of the Chinese culture, and also the starting point of characters of the Chinese people.  Our ancient intellectuals realized the features of water and formed their thoughts on art aesthetics. Both Chinese Buddhism and Laozi, and Bruce Lee sophisticated their philosophy in the description about 'Water', such as the ingenuity and wisdom of ‘Being carried away by the natural flow of water (隨波逐流),’ ‘Laozi's paradox of change (變即不變),’No form, but all form (無形而多形),’ and ‘no style but all style (以無法為有法)’ etc. This message coordinates with ZIII’s slogan, Appropriable Fitness [各適].

This series takes the philosophy of water as its foundational theme, impressing the users with succinctness, fluency, and the technique of fabric lamination which is of a semi-embossment style. LandScape Series

 

These series transforms landscape (地貌景觀) into a scenery of the great nature which makes up the so-called void beauty. By using language of silence in its visual forms “empty space” (留白), they remark sound of no sound and negate all the human signs. Such “void beauty” is created by using short dash lines in different structure and rhythms, and so as to change the reality into self-less condition (忘我之境). Such presentation has made detailed brush with the fusion of the atmosphere, the Zen fun, and the music aesthetics of the landscape painting. Resting its foundational theme on eco aesthetics, the ‘sceneries’ on the handbags surface are not simply normal sceneries, but are oriented by Oivong’s hand painting. Carrying a bag is also carrying a touch of harmonious human-nature relationship which comes from the Chinese-landscape painting tradition.

 LifeScape Series

This series depicts concept of life-world (人生景觀) like Husserl’s and Heidegger’s, as a reaction to phenomenological modes of interpretation. Heidegger articulated life-world with the notion of ‘Being-in-the-world’ so that life-world is a reveal and reflection upon everyday life. The foundations on which our life rests are socially and culturally engaged in multiple communal spheres and in pluralistic complex reality. The natural attitude related to ordinary life is originally and most often taken for granted. However, should everyone makes their ‘Authentic Choice [各取],’ all living creatures of every instant may enjoy the fruitful results of ‘existential sharing’ and the essence of life.

ColorScape Series

Oivong transforms this Handbag series into an object of timeless, and deepens the spiritual awareness of ultimately emptiness of all phenomenal form through the color-world (色彩景觀). Paradoxically, for every emptiness of the handbag, a fullness or richness may be found. According to Buddhism, emptiness is not different from fullness. Color/Form is the emptiness. Emptiness is the Color/Form. The same is true for world of sensation, feelings, perceptions, volitions and consciousness. In such design series, the computer compiled colors are a powerful element, presented in garish and lively colors of all shades and hues. The more powerfully it is, the stronger effect of the virtual and unreal feeling are. Plus the wide range of abstracts, imaginary, and natural colorscape running through landscape, it tries to hold the whole colorscape in landscape phenomenon and prove its realistic and surrealistic. This “non-abiding but omnipresent illusion” and “ non-addicted but enchanted” color interprets ZIII’s slogan: Self at ease [自在].
