Schemed by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (TDC), the ‘Hong Kong.Design Gallery (Design Gallery) has been emphasising 100% HK Designs, specialising in the sale of Hong Kong-style product. Acting as the platform for the retailing of high-quality, creative, and representative brands, the Design Gallery is glad to help designers in building up their own product images by promoting their gorgeous designs. Through also setting a Designers’ Corner within the store to showcase local designers’ masterpieces, the Design Gallery advances the original-design industry in the SAR.
Furthermore, the Design Gallery regularly specialises in promoting a few designers’ products, selectively collaborating with their brands in ways of launching sales and continuously releasing new items, so as to surprise the public. A considerable number of local designers and brand manufacturers test the market reaction towards innovations and build brand awareness among an international clientele through the Design Gallery. It is thus not surprising that the Design Gallery effectively facilitates local brands in attracting international clients from exhibitions, and expanding business market.
The difference between department stores and the Design Gallery lies in their business approach: the Design Gallery is not market-oriented. Nonetheless, it achieves an appreciable business achievement, which proves the allure of local superior brands. Apart from select items, the Design Gallery also zealously provides Trade Enquiry Service including the display of posts that show company and designer profile, item details, and creation ideal etc. Owing to this information, not only does the public understand the items more, but also the design attitude and design style in Hong Kong. In this way, the Design Gallery successfully serves as the art museum for local creative industry.
It is ZIII’s pleasure to collaborate with the Design Gallery. The selected items are all ZIII’s masterpieces, the four handbag series: HydroScape, LandScape, LifeScape, and ColorScape (please refer to Chapter 3). Various styles of shopping bags, carrier bags, and make-up bags etc, are involved in these series respectively. In the future, our Art Director Oivong will specially design a series of innovative package bags for electronic products and jewel, with a view to showing not solely ZIII’s cultural temperament, but also its keen determination in matching up the scientific and technological development in the SAR.
